Jaime King’s friendship with Taylor Swift has “suffered because of the personal challenges” the actress has “faced over the past few years,” a source exclusively tells Page Six.
According to our insider, the “Sin City” star and the Grammy winner “haven’t been in touch for a long time” but tells us that King “misses Taylor” and hopes they can “reconnect at some point.”
“Jaime made Taylor her son’s godmother for a reason and she wants to continue that friendship,” the source notes.
King, 45, and Swift, 35, became inseparable after meeting at a 2014 Golden Globes party. Just one year later, the “White Chicks” actress asked the pop star to be her son Leo’s godmother.
King’s now ex-husband, Kyle Newman, also directed Swift’s 2015 “Style” music video.
“She is going through a rough time right now. Between being forced to move out of her rental home because of the lawsuit involving her former landlord, and her ex getting sole physical custody of her boys, it’s all been very challenging,” the insider tells us.
Last month, a judge declared that Newman, 49, will have sole physical custody of James, 11, and Leo, 9, due to King’s failure to complete her rehabilitation program.
King will only be allowed supervised visitation with her boys three times a week.
Her mother, Nancy King, sister, Sandi Larson, brother-in-law, Andy Larson, and Kyle’s brother, Kevin Newman, are named as mutually agreed upon supervisors for Jaime’s scheduled meetings which will continue until ordered unsupervised by the Los Angeles family court.
The model “is doing her best to stay positive and she is determined to gain physical custody back of her sons,” the source tells us.
“But the first step is working towards unsupervised visits.”
“Jaime is so grateful she has a very supportive family. She’s thankful they have agreed to step up and be involved in this custody situation because she couldn’t do it without them.”
After almost 13 years of marriage, King filed for divorce from Newman in 2020. She was granted a restraining order against the “Barely Lethal” director at the time.
Shortly after, Newman claimed King was a “chronic drug addict and alcoholic,”alleging she had abused opiates before their two children were born and throughout her pregnancies, resulting in Leo “being born addicted” to drugs.
According to court docs filed in May 2020, Newman also alleged that his and King’s friends had staged an intervention. Since then, the children have remained in their father’s care and, most recently, Newman gained sole physical custody of them.
