Sydney Sweeney is drawing attention for yet another bizarre scene in “Euphoria.”
During Sunday’s episode, Sweeney’s character, Cassie, appeared nude with a yellow python wrapped around her body for a risqué photoshoot orchestrated by Maddy (Alexa Demie).
Cassie also posed with Rosalía and Anna Van Patten’s characters for the shoot, wearing pink lingerie with a plunging neckline.
Fans were shocked over the snake scene, with one writing on X, “What do you mean there’s a deadly snake that cassie takes pictures with?”
“cassie and that snake scene..?” another fan tweeted.
Other Twitter users compared the scene to Britney Spears’ infamous 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance with a live snake.
The third season of the HBO series has been getting backlash for the increasingly explicit storylines involving Sweeney’s character.
The Emmy-nominated actress had to dress up as a baby and a dog and sucked her own toe during earlier episodes.
Her wild scenes have even angered OnlyFans models like Sydney Leathers, who told Variety last week the show’s portrayal of Cassie using the subscription-based platform is “infuriating.”
“There’s so much that they have her doing that is not even allowed on OnlyFans, and that alone is infuriating: the age-play stuff where she’s dressed as a baby in a diaper, for example,” Leathers said.
Sweeney, who has played Cassie on “Euphoria” since 2019, previously defended her nude scenes in a 2022 interview with Teen Vogue.
“I think it’s important to the storyline and the character,” she said. “There’s a purpose to what that character is going through. That’s the character.”
She added, “We all get naked in real life. We show this character’s life and what they’re going through. Cassie’s body is a different form of communication for her.”
In a British GQ interview that same year, Sweeney revealed online trolls posted screenshots of her explicit scenes on social media and tagged some of her family members.
“It’s completely disgusting and unfair,” she stated. “You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school, and then an audience that does the same thing.”
Sweeney is currently dating music producer Scooter Braun, who Page Six learned “has absolutely no issue” with her risqué moments in the show.
“He fully understands that it’s part of her job and respects how dedicated she is to her craft,” an insider told us.
