Following his 2019 split from ex-wife Megan Fox, Brian Austin Green discovered that a lasting marriage should probably not be built on a foundation of physical attraction.
‘My ex and I were together for almost 15 years,’ the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum – turning 53 this Wednesday – admitted on the I Do, Part 2 podcast last Saturday.
‘We were married for almost 10 years and I led with physical attraction. First, I’d be physically attracted to somebody and then sort of build a relationship around that.’
Green was notoriously 30 years old when he fell in love with the then 18-year-old starlet in 2004 on the Long Island set of their ABC sitcom, Hope & Faith.
‘I liked him right away,’ Fox recalled to the New York Times in 2009.
‘Everyone was around the monitor watching a scene, and Brian accidentally touched my leg. I remember literal electricity shooting through me and out me from every direction. It was like magic.’

‘For us, it was pretty apparent then like, “Oh, hey, we should stick with us. This seems to be working,”‘ Green said.
‘Your approach to a relationship is the best way to know if it’s just a purely physical connection. That’s only going to last for so long that you’re going to get to a point where you go, “I can’t stand that other person. So they’re not hot to me anymore.”‘
On June 24, the Celebrity Wheel of Fortune contestant and Burgess toured their future wedding location – Adare Manor Hotel – a five-star luxury resort in Limerick, Ireland following three years of engagement.

The inseparable couple share four-year-old son Zane and enjoy co-parenting with his three children with Fox.
‘I know I grieved the concept of missing half the life of my kids. That meant a lot to me. That was a big deal. Then I quickly realized, “Oh man, while they are at their mom’s house, I get a chance to recharge,”‘ Green said.
‘Then when they come back over, I can give them all of my attention. And I’ve spent the four days out of the seven days or whatever it is just taking care of myself and being with my partner that I have now and doing things for me so I don’t have that overwhelmed feeling the same way when my kids come back.’
