Over the past four months, the Republic has added over 4,000 new electric vehicle (EV) charging points, bringing the total number to 34,700, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on World EV Day (Sept 9). This, as the EV population reached 82,100-mark in August — up from the 57,200 in 2025. In the first eight months of 2026, EVs made up 63 per cent of new car registrations, up from 45 per cent last year, data from LTA showed.
