In its effort to go all out on Batman story H2SH, DC has unveiled a publishing trailer that animates panels from the upcoming comic while also giving cinematic sheen to writer Jeph Loeb and artist and company chief Jim Lee.

H2SH is the sequel to a now classic Batman story that ran in DC flagship monthly comic Batman in the early 2000s. It featured a who’s who of Batman supporting characters and villains and was a massive hit at the time. The collected editions have remained perennial best-sellers for the company, and was even adapted as an animated movie.

The long-in-the-works sequel reunites the Loeb and Lee, as well as inker Scott Williams and colorist Alex Sinclair and is expected to be one of the top-selling comics of the year. DC is putting a lot of oomph behind the initiative and made it a large focus of its presentation at ComicsPro, the annual gathering of comics retailers and distributors, which this year was held in Glendale, CA.

While DC, along with other publishers, do put out trailers for certain titles, not many put a spotlight on the creators like this one does. In between shots of Lee’s art coming to life, it tracks Loeb and Lee striding in slow-motion with Michael Bay-like stylings into a loft-like studio with an artist’s table, spotlights, milk crates, and a leather couch. It then zooms in on the two as they sit, emanating cool vibes and even leaning in with purpose.

H2SH’s 12-issue run is divided into two parts, six issues each. The first installment begins in Batman No. 158 and hits March 26, with the first part running through August’s Batman no. 163. Part two is expected later in the year.

DC had a very strong finish to last year’s sales as it launched a publishing initiative titled “All In” and put out re-imagined concepts of some of its heroes under an “Absolute” imprint. Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman became sell-out out books, going on to multiple printings. Absolute Batman No. 1 became the top-selling comic of the year, with over 400,000 copies ordered.

H2SH is likely to keep Batman, and DC, at the top of the charts.
