Actor Govinda tragically lost his longtime secretary, Shashi Sinha, on March 6. According to initial reports, Shashi breathed his last at 4 pm at his residence in Mumbai’s Niranjan Society. For decades, Shashi was actor’s trusted aide. According to reports, Govinda rushed to Shashi’s residence on being told about his death. The actor was visibly shaken and immediately visited the family to extend emotional support during this difficult time.
If reports are to be believed, the funeral is expected to take place tonight around 10 pm. Recently, amid rumours suggesting that Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are heading for divorce, Govinda’s manager Shashi had addressed the situation. According to a report in ETimes, he said, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain members from the family. There is nothing more to it and Govinda is in process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it.”
Shashi remained a steadfast support for Govindathrough all the ups and downs. When producer Praveen Khanna, who is married to Govinda’s sister Kamini Khanna, held him culpable for physical abuse, Shashi had come forward with a statement, “Yeh insaan (Khanna) jooth bol raha hai. He is the one who started abusing Govinda and accused him of cheating.”
In October 2024, Govinda accidentally shot his leg when the revolver misfired. He was leaving to catch a morning flight when he accidentally shot himself. Even at that time, Shashi had informed media through a statement, “Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the cupboard when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg. The doctor has removed the bullet and his condition is fine. He is in the hospital right now.”
The real cause of Shashi’s death hasn’t been determined yet. Govinda and his family members have yet to make a public statement regarding the loss.
