Local actor Aaron Aziz has shared a heartfelt message of support for his friend and home-grown rapper Sheikh Haikel, following the latter’s revelation of his cancer diagnosis last Friday (Sept 4).
Aaron’s wife, Diyana Halik, shared Aaron’s video tribute on her Instagram account on Sunday. Haikel, his wife Anna Belle Francis and travel agency Karva Travel were tagged as collaborators in the post.
Aaron and Sheikh, both 50, are first heard speaking on the phone, with Aaron seated in a car, tears in his eyes. Sheikh is heard saying, “I’m not gonna leave you, B,” to which Aaron replies, “You are not gonna die.”
Aaron then addresses Sheikh, saying: “To my brother, Sheikh Haikel, when you told me you had cancer, you said you had one wish, which was to go on umrah.
“All you wanted was that you and Anna Belle (Sheikh’s wife) make dua (pray) in front of the Kaaba and alhamduillah. We managed to do so — it was my most unforgettable trip with you — and it is something that I will always treasure, and I’m looking forward to our haj.”
Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage to Mecca that can be performed at any time of the year, while haj is a mandatory pilgrimage that Muslims who are physically and financially able to do so are required to perform at least once in their lifetime.
Diyana, 44, shared in the caption that Sheikh had revealed his diagnosis to them on July 27, 2025.
“When Haikel called Aaron with the news, I saw a side of brotherhood I had never truly understood before,” she said. “I will always remember Aaron’s silence on that very day.”
“Witnessing the love between these two brothers showed me that some friendships run just as deep,” added Diyana.
The two men performed umrah two months later, with the video featuring clips of their trip to Mecca and the Kaaba.
‘Your support keeps us going’
Sheikh and Belle also shared an Instagram reel on Sunday, showing the former sitting in a car and looking at his phone.
The post captioned: “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your overwhelming love, kind messages and visits to the restaurant mean more to us than words can say.
“Your support during this difficult time — both emotionally and financially — is truly what keeps us going.”
The Singaporean rapper had revealed his diagnosis in an emotional video on Instagram last Friday.
He was reportedly diagnosed more than a year ago and has been undergoing treatment since.
Despite his condition, Sheikh said that he intends to continue working throughout his treatment and plans to launch a new podcast to share his experiences.
