It seems like SpongeBob SquarePants isn’t just busy flipping Krabby Patties — he apparently busts scammers too.
In a TikTok video posted by US content creator Justin Ho on Monday (Aug 10), a group of people donning mascot outfits of the popular cartoon character can be seen raiding an alleged scam call centre in India.
What followed was chaos. The SpongeBob mascots are seen dancing and fooling around, seemingly disrupting surprised employees working in what appears to be an office.
Security guards intervened. Some are seen hitting the mascots with bats, while others are caught in tussles with the pranksters.

The now-viral video, which has 5.2 million views as of publishing time, has caught the attention of netizens, many of whom were amused by the bizarre stunt.
“It’s funny because they can’t call the cops because what they’re doing is also illegal,” one commented, while another said: “Imagine getting jumped by SpongeBob.”
Some however, expressed pity for the security guards.
“The guard isn’t even the one scamming… He’s just doing his job. And remember, he is someone’s father,” wrote a netizen.
Echoed someone else: “Why do I feel bad for the old guard? He can’t do nothing.”
According to Justin, the scam centre wasn’t targeted at random.
“We got information from inside sources that they were a scam,” he told Hindustan Times, a major newspaper.
He added that while “everyone was scared” when the entourage first showed up, they “started laughing” subsequently.

Justin uploaded another video on Aug 13 showing him and a group of people dressed as viral meme character Tung Tung Tung Sahur targeting another alleged scam call centre.
Here, they were also dancing and fooling around, but no security guards showed up. They can then be seen quickly leaving the premises after the cameraman is heard saying: “Run, run, run, the police are coming!”

This isn’t the first time facilities like these were the target of pranks.
In May 2022, YouTuber and former Nasa engineer Mark Rober teamed up with vigilante content creators Jim Browning and Trilogy Media to release videos pranking alleged scam call centres in Kolkata, India.
In the clips, they planted glitter bombs, stink bombs, cockroaches and rats in the centres as “payback”.
