Sarah Abo has welcomed her first child with husband Cyrus Moran.

The Today show host, 40, shared the joyous news via Instagram on Friday morning, uploading several black-and-white photos of herself and Cyrus in hospital with their newborn son.

In the caption, Sarah revealed her son’s sweet name, writing: ‘Hi there, you can call me Sonny.’

‘What a week with our little man. He came into the world a little early but that gave us a little longer to marvel at you, our beautiful boy,’ she continued.

‘We love you so infinitely darling.’

Sarah went on to praise the ‘incredible doctors and midwives’ who made hospital feel like home for two weeks.

‘Thank you for taking such good care of us, you are all angels and we are forever grateful,’ she gushed. 

In one rather hilarious photo, Sarah and Cyrus were seen cuddling Sonny in front of a laptop playing a game of footy, with their child wrapped in a Sydney Swans scarf. 

Sarah also appeared via video chat on the Today show on Friday morning, giving viewers a first glimpse of little Sonny. 

The entire Today team were on set to celebrate the news, with Sylvia Jeffreys introducing Sarah as a ‘special surprise guest’. 

Sarah revealed her son’s name before joking that Sonny had been in a bit of a ‘mood’ before ‘having a feed’ but that he was now in good spirits.  

The touching update comes after Sarah revealed she had been forced onto maternity leave earlier than expected after suffering pregnancy complications.

Earlier this month, the presenter disclosed she had developed high blood pressure and had spent time in and out of hospital under medical supervision.

‘Copped a bit of a curveball last week with high blood pressure and have been in and out of hospital since,’ she told followers.

She beamed as she shared her good news with viewers 

Sarah announced she was expecting in March during an emotional live segment on Today, revealing she and Cyrus had endured two heartbreaking miscarriages before falling pregnant with their son 

‘Thankfully I’m in the safe hands of magnificent doctors, nurses and midwives taking incredibly good care of bub and me. We are both well.’

Doctors ordered the TV star to remain on bed rest while the remainder of her pregnancy was closely monitored. 

‘Which means I won’t make it back to Today to say goodbye to all you wonderful people before so abruptly heading off on maternity leave… I’m sorry,’ she told fans.

Sarah announced she was expecting in March during an emotional live segment on Today, revealing she and Cyrus had endured two heartbreaking miscarriages before falling pregnant with their son.

‘Cyrus and I are expecting a little baby,’ she said at the time.

‘I know it’s obviously very happy news, but it hasn’t been the easiest journey to get here, which I know a lot of our beautiful viewers out there have been through this and are feeling this right now, because it’s not as easy as some might think pregnancy is.

‘It’s been a bit of a bumpy ride, but here we are and it’s getting harder to hide.’

The journalist also admitted she approached the pregnancy with ‘cautious optimism’ after her previous losses.

By sharing her fertility struggles publicly, Sarah said she hoped to offer comfort and support to other women navigating similar experiences as she and Cyrus prepared to welcome their long-awaited baby boy.
