Timothée Chalamet was flooded with a wave of congratulatory messages on Saturday, as the Hollywood star reached his milestone 30th birthday.

But none were likely to be as special or as surprising, as that from his unlikely new pal Susan Boyle, who shared a video serenading the two-time Oscar nominee.

Timothée delighted fans earlier this month, when he revealed his admiration for the iconic BGT finalist, 64, during the UK promo trail for his hugely hyped new movie Marty Supreme.

He has been sending out a jacket inspired by the film to celebrities he considers to be true greats – including Justin Bieber, Tom Brady, and his own girlfriend Kylie Jenner – and added Susan to the list.

And in return, the singer donned the coveted jacket to film a special tribute to Timothée for his birthday, with the help of Marty Supreme production company, A24.

She serenaded the Dune star by singing him Happy Birthday, before blowing him a kiss and saying: ‘Timothée, have a lovely 30th. All the best. Love, Susan.’

Timothée was quick to voice his joy and gratitude for the surprise tribute, sharing it to his Instagram Stories and captioned: ‘THANK U SUSAN !!!!!!!!’ with a string of orange heart emojis.

While he also posted a throwback photo of Susan from her famous Britain’s Got Talent audition, writing over the top: ‘DREAM BIG’.

He had previously declared Susan had ‘dreamt bigger than all of us’ while reflecting on her 2009 audition, which saw her being dismissed by the judges and crowd, before stunning the world with her performance of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables.

Timothée revealed his secret love of the viral video in an interview with BBC News last week, where he was asked which British celebs he thinks are worthy of owning a Marty Supreme jacket.

‘Oh man, what a great question,’ he responded, before reeling off Lewis Hamilton, Victoria and David Beckham and the rapper Fake Mink.

His final choice was a surprise – the iconic BGT finalist Susan.

In the face of laughter from the interviewer, Timothée doubled down on his choice, replying with a straight face: ‘She dreamt big. She dreamt bigger than all of us.’

‘Who wasn’t moved by that [story]? I remember that like it was yesterday. That was like the advent of YouTube, you know?’

The Scottish singer was moved by the unexpected shout-out from one of the world’s biggest stars and shared a gushing Instagram post in response.

Posting a screenshot from the interview alongside a picture of Timothée, she wrote: ‘This has been so incredibly touching to read. I’m very flattered, @tchalamet.

‘Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.

‘We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big! I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream.

‘Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly. With love, Susan.’

And she later confirmed she had received her Marty Supreme jacket, telling the BBC: ‘Thanks so much for the kind words once again Timothée.

‘All the very best for the film, looking forward to seeing it on Boxing Day and thanks for the jacket, it fits like a glove!’

It’s been 16 years since Susan was catapulted to world stardom on BGT, coming in second place to dance troupe Diversity.

She released her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream – named after her breakthrough song – the same year and it became the world’s best-seller of 2009.

She also made UK music history by having three successive albums debut at No 1 in less than two years, and to date, she has sold 25 million records.

Susan is currently preparing for her return to the limelight after six years away from music.

In May she shared a photo of herself during a ‘wonderful’ and ’emotional’ day in the recording studio, revealing she is working on new music.

It marks her long-awaited return after a string of devastating health issues, most significantly suffering a stroke in 2022, which left her struggling to speak or sing.

Having suffered one stroke, she was also much more vulnerable to another, so her management team had to carefully manage the pace of her return to public life.

Susan also has diabetes and was warned by doctors during the pandemic she had a high chance of catching coronavirus.
