If you’re lucky enough to be a Hollywood star with millions in the bank one of the biggest benefits is being able to choose any kind of lavish home you want to live in.

And some celebrities have certainly made the most of having an unlimited budget to make their properties their own.

This week one such star caused controversy when it was revealed he has a shark and a manta ray confined to a floor aquarium in his Tarzana, California home.

Jason Derulo was slammed as ‘evil’ and called an ‘off-brand Bond villain’ for the home feature.

But he’s not the only one with some quirky interior design choices – with Celine Dion having a whole waterpark at her sprawling estate, Paris Hilton’s home featuring a pet mansion and John Travolta’s property having it’s own private runway…

Kris Jenner’s $20,000 crockery room

Back in 2022 Kris was blasted for flaunting her lavish $20,000 dish room – complete with a $640 Gucci teapot and a $550 Hermès tableware.

The businesswoman and matriarch of the well-known Kardashian family, 70, gave fans a glimpse of the perfectly arranged room – which was filled with color-coded plates and china with her family’s faces on them.

The mom-of-six was mercilessly ridiculed by many social media users, who branded the extravagant pantry – which has thousands of dollars worth of china – as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘over done.’

The impeccably organized walk-in closet contains shelves upon shelves of pricey designer dinnerware sets by popular brands like Hermès and Gucci.

Described as a ‘mini museum’ on Poosh’s website, the dish room has bright white lights to ensure that the five rows of ‘timeless’ and ‘rare’ dishes are all well-lit.

Some pieces in the pantry include an eight-piece Hermès Africa tableware set, which comes with three salad plates, two demitasse cups, and three saucers and costs $550.

Elsewhere in Kris’ dish closet are three Hermès Africa Green plates, which costs $460 each.

The Africa Green porcelain cup and saucer set of two sells for $598, and it appears that Kris has numerous sets of those.

She also has many pieces from the Hermès Carnets d’Equateur dinnerware set, which range from $130 for a butter plate to $3,700 for a vase.

Her Gucci Herbarium teapot costs $640, while the matching teacup and saucer set – which Kris owns eight of – costs $410 each. She also has eight coffee cups, which you can buy for $375 a piece.

She even has a few custom dishes with portraits of her famous daughters painted onto them, although it’s unclear where she got them or which brand made them; it appears that each family member has their own personalized plate.

Celine Dion’s waterpark

Imagine having a water park and a lazy river in your backyard.

For world-famous singer Celine Dion, that dream was once a reality she herself constructed with her late husband, René Angélil.

In 2010, Dion and Angélil built their 11,000 square feet dream home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The opulent space included a 500,000-gallon waterpark with a winding waterslide.

The stunning estate also boasted three swimming pools and a tennis court, along with ample guest rooms and pavilions for friends and relatives.

Other amenities included a golf simulator, theater and a 100-meter stretch of private beach.

The main house had five bedrooms with five ensuite bathrooms, a formal living room with vaulted ceilings, a media room, an elevator and two kitchens.

There were also two four-bedroom guest homes and a pool house, bringing the property’s total to 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.

Paris Hilton’s pet mansion

Paris often gives fans a sneak-peek into her brilliantly bonkers home, revealing she has a mansion for all her pets in the property.

She shares her $63 million Beverly Hills home son Phoenix Barron, three, and daughter London Marilyn, two, as well as her husband, Carter Reum, 45.

But she also has five dogs for whom she has had a palatial mini mansion built.

It boasts two stories, as well as pink interiors, and even its own balcony.

In addition to the pet mansion, she revealed that she owns an entire room for just her designer sunglasses in a recent interview.

The American IT girl, 45, spilled the beans on the inside of her luxurious home – complete with Dior bags for her dogs and her very own spa.

‘I have an entire room in my house for sunglasses and every wall has holographic shelves with about 10,000 sunglasses, she told The Times.

When asked what the first thing she ever bought was, the socialite replied: ‘A pink, monogrammed Dior doggy bag for my dog Tinkerbell.

‘I miss Tinkerbell. I have a cartoon launching soon called Paris & Pups, based on me and my puppies when I was little.’

The Bling Ring actress even had a personalised spa inside her stunning mansion, called Silving SPA.

Paris went on explaining: ‘I built a spa at my house called the Sliving Spa [‘slaying’ and ‘living’ combined] and it has all the beauty devices.

‘A LED red light bed and cryotherapy machine that I go on every morning to get ready for my day. For the past six months I have been using this new plasma device that my facialist Heather Nicole gave me, called Skin Skulpt, and I’m obsessed.’

John Travolta’s runway

Plane-obsessed John Travolta’s Florida home has its very own private runway, allowing him to cut out any pesky airport transfers.

The Grease actor, 72, bought his luxury Ocala pad with his late wife, Kelly Preston, in 2001 for $3.5 million.

Together, they were the first to purchase a house on the country’s only private runway, where Travolta was able to operate his ex-Qantas Airlines Boeing 707 jetliner for a time.

‘It was always John’s dream to have planes in his front yard – to practically be able to pull up to the house – so that when you wanted to go to dinner, all you’d have to do was step out the door, get on the plane and whisk off,’ Preston told Architectural Digest in 2014.

‘And we fly in and out a lot. Last year when Johnny was shooting a movie in Tampa, he flew to and from work every day.

‘Each night the kids and I would go out in the golf cart, watch the landing, then bring Johnny to the house while the plane taxied in. It was very exciting.’

Besides the runway, the home spans approximately 7,500 square feet with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Kim Kardashian’s lavish play village

In 2021, Kim Kardashian revealed that she built an elaborate play village for her four children.

Situated in the backyard of her $60 million Calabasas mansion, the Skims businesswoman created a child-friendly mall which features a mini KKW Beauty boutique, a fire station, a diner – and even an ATM.

Kardashian, 45, made sure the village, named Lil Hidden Hills, was as realistic as possible, too, and included working streetlamps and running water.

A confectionery castle is dominated by bright pink paint and roofs made to resemble sprinkle-topped cupcakes.

Kardashian purchased the sprawling estate from her ex-husband Kanye West in 2021 following their divorce.

The eight-bedroom, ten-bathroom property also has two swimming pools, two vineyards, a guest house and a recording studio.

The star, 36, had it designed to dispense every possible flavor of Skittles.

At the $16million LA home he also has a pool that’s always set to exactly 97 degrees, and a ‘Costco Room,’ which is filled with a backstock of every household supply he could possibly need.

‘When you buy something of this size you question every little thing,’ he said of the home previously.

‘But this is really as close to perfect a house for me as I can get.’

It served as the site for their engagement in 2020 and their wedding ceremony the following year.

‘Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help,’ a source told Us Weekly in December 2020.

‘It’s really a tribute to their love. They are going to get married in the chapel, most likely early next year.’

The pair got engaged in October 2020 after five years together.

The two met in 2014 when she became a judge on The Voice.

The marriage occurred several months after Gwen and her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale were granted an annulment from the Catholic Church.
