Katie Holmes shared a rare childhood photo on social media as she celebrated her 47th birthday on Thursday.
The Dawson’s Creek alum took to Instagram to share a photo of herself as the younger child version of herself scowled adorably in a portrait.
In the throwback picture, she sported a shoulder-length bob with blunt bangs and wore a patterned turtleneck layered under a pair of overalls with an embroidered heart at the center.
‘Thank you to my beautiful family and friends for the wonderful birthday wishes,’ she wrote in her caption alongside the snapshot.
With a red heart emoji at the end, she added: ‘I am so grateful for this past year full of creativity, joy, and love. Thank you to all!’

Holmes shares Suri, her only child, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, 63.
The mother-daughter duo, who are notoriously private, have a close relationship amid Suri’s estrangement from her father.
The teenager is currently in her sophomore year of college at Carnegie Mellon University.
Holmes and Cruise were previously married for six years before she filed for divorce in 2012, citing concerns about their daughter’s wellbeing to escape the action movie star’s controversial involvement with the Church of Scientology.
Holmes received primary custody of their daughter and Cruise paid child support until Suri turned 18.
Though he and his daughter’s relationship remain estranged, he reportedly offered to pay for her college tuition.
Last year, Holmes opened up about becoming an empty nester after Suri moved away from college in August 2024.
‘I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,’ Holmes told Town & Country.

‘I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that,’ she added.
Cruise pays Suri’s $65K/year tuition as well as medical, dental, and insurance expenses despite their severed relationship.
Amid the strained connection, Suri still dropped her dad’s surname on the casting sheet of her senior year high school play The Addams Family: A New Musical, according to a report from Yahoo.
She also opted to only use her first and middle name, Suri Noelle, during her high school graduation.
An insider told DailyMail.com about Suri in June 2024: ‘She is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent mature young woman. She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.’
