Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore has made a comeback to Bengali cinema with Puratawn. The movie – which was released on April 11 – continues to get rave reviews. For the unversed, this marks her first Bengali project in 14 years. In a recent chat with Anandabazar Patrika.com on YouTube, the veteran actress talked about her grandchildren Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan and their careers in Bollywood.
Sharmila takes pride in their journey. “Sara and Ibrahim are doing a wonderful job,” she said. Nonetheless, she showed no inhibitions in expressing her honest opinion about Ibrahim’s Bollywood debut. “Ibrahim’s film was not good, but he still looks very handsome. He has tried his best. These things shouldn’t really be said in front of everyone, but honestly, the picture isn’t great. Ultimately, the picture has to be good,” she added.
Sharmila also lauded Sara for her dedication towards her craft. “Sara is a good actress. She works very hard and is capable of doing a lot more. She’ll also achieve that,” Sharmila said. A few weeks back, Ibrahim Ali Khan made headlines for his alleged critical attack at a Pakistani film critic, who reviewed his latest debut film. Ibrahim was slammed for ‘threatening’ the film critic over Nadaaniyan review. The movie critic, Tamur Iqbal, was in the news for his criticism of the Ibrahim Ali Khan movie. He had reportedly slammed his acting skills and mocked his ‘huge nose’ in his movie review. Tamur was quick to take a screenshot in which he alleged that Ibrahim had reacted to his review.
According to Tamur’s Instagram post, Ibrahim’s message read, “Tamur almost like Taimoor… you got my brother’s name. Guess what you don’t got? His face. You ugly piece of trash. Since you can’t keep your words to yourself, don’t bother, they’re irrelevant just like you. Ugly goddamn piece of sh** I feel bad for you and your family – and if I see you on the streets one day, I’ll make sure I leave you uglier than you are – you walking piece of sc**.”
Ibrahim Ali Khan starrer Nadaaniyan had released on Netflix on March 7. Nadaaniyan revolves around the life of a privileged South Delhi school girl Pia Jai Singh who hires Arjun Mehta to pretend to be her boyfriend. The film also featured Khushi Kapoor, Suneil Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Dia Mirza and Jugal Hansraj in key roles.
