Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews’ maiden Hindi film, Deva, had released on January 31 and since then it has been struggling to woo the viewers to theatres. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. As per Sacnilk, the film saw a dip in collections, but managed to earn around Rs 21.36 crore net mark in India.
Deva box office collection
The website has reported that Deva managed to collect around Rs 2.21 crore net in India and its total collections are Rs 21.36 crore net. Deva collected Rs 5.5 crore on its opening day. The film witnessed a surge over the weekend with Rs 6.4 crore and Rs 7.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday. The film had an overall occupancy of 7.53% on Monday. The production house, Roy Kapur Films shared on social media that the film made Rs 8.30 crore in India and Rs 3.45 crore overseas. The film managed to collect Rs 11.75 crore gross on its third day and had a total of around Rs 34.01 crore gross.
During recent interactions, Shahid spoke about the comparisons between Deva and his hit film Kabir Singh. He said, “It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very Deva; there is no Kabir Singh in it. Deva is also not like any other character… Till Kabir Singh, people have asked if he is like Tommy Singh in Udta Punjab.”

Deva is an adaptation of the 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police which featured Prithviraj Sukumaran in the main role. The story of the film is about Shahid who plays ACP Dev Ambre, a man who loses his memory while trying to solve his best friend’s murder and Pooja plays his lover, a reporter called Diya Sathaye.
