She’s that rare kind of friend.
Selena Gomez is going to be a bridesmaid at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, a source tells Page Six.
The “Love Story” singer and Kansas City Chiefs player are set to kick off festivities with a rehearsal dinner at Madison Square Garden tonight, followed by a blow out wedding bash at the iconic arena on Friday.
Reps for Swift and Gomez did not return request for comment.
Gomez and Swift have been close for almost 20 years, first becoming friends in 2008 when Gomez was dating Nick Jonas and Swift was dating Joe Jonas.
“It was amazing, because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked,” Gomez said during a 2017 interview with KIIS FM Uk. “It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
Over the years, the pair have hit red carpets, danced at award shows and attended A list bashes like the Vanity Fair Oscar party together.
It’s also not the first time they’ll be together at Madison Square Garden. In 2011, Gomez joined Swift on stage to sing a duet of Gomez’s “Who Says” during Swift’s “Speak Now” tour.
Swift reflected on their enduring bond during a 2014 interview with E!.
“When your life changes, and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is is different from what other people think your life is. And your life is commented on and your life is written about and fictionalized and all that. Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we’ve gone through,” Swift said, adding, “Longevity is something you really can find very precious and rare in friendships.”
Gomez has been just as vocal about what Swift means to her.
Following a surprise duet during Swift’s “Reputation” tour at the Rose Bowl in 2018, Gomez shared, “The reason why [Taylor] has been one of my best friends is because this person has never ever judged a single decision I’ve made. She’s always met me where I’ve been. She’s encouraged me when I’ve had nothing to be encouraged about, and I don’t know if I would be as strong as I am if I didn’t have you and your family because you’ve changed my life. “
Swift gave a speech at Gomez’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sept. 27.
On a March episode of Blanco’s podcast “Friends Keep Secrets,” Gomez revealed that Swift’s song “Dorothea” is about her. She also said Swift had written an unreleased track on their friendship called “Family.
Along with Gomez and Bianco, guests expected at Swift and Kelce’s big bash include Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid, the Haim sisters, Sombr, Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevingne, Mariska Hargitay, and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
