Like mother, like daughter.
Sasha Obama worked on a crochet project at Los Angeles’ Everett Park on Wednesday, proving she’s got a similar passion as her knitting-loving mom, Michelle Obama.
Michelle and Barack Obama’s youngest daughter sat in the grass on a blanket as she tackled the colorful project, which was draped over her lap.
The 23-year-old wore jean shorts with a statement belt for the sunny outing, as well as a blue crop top and sandals.
She sported the same shirt while attending Billie Eilish’s star-studded Halloween party with sister Malia, 26, in October 2024.
The siblings’ mom, notably, has gushed over her knitting projects in the past.
In December 2022, Michelle referred to the hobby as “one of [her] most meaningful (and fun) pastimes.”
The former first lady, 61, explained via Instagram at the time that “knitting is a release” for her.
“During the peak of the pandemic, when everything felt so bleak, the act of stitching, purling, casting on and off is how I kept my anxiety at bay,” she wrote.
“I truly believe that when you know you are capable of small tasks, it makes the bigger ones feel easier,” the former lawyer continued. “In this case, every small stitch builds into a bigger purpose.”
Michelle shared a similar sentiment in April of the following year.
“In knitting, when you create the first stitch of a new project, you cast on,” she told her followers. “When an item is finished, you bind off.”
She continued, “Both of these actions, I’ve found, are incredibly satisfying bookends of something manageable and finite.”
Michelle reiterated that “knitting has truly become one of [her] favorite pastimes,” concluding, “I’ve enjoyed the feeling of slowing down and creating something from hand.”
She and Barack, 63, are also the parents of 26-year-old daughter Malia, and the sisters share a home in LA.
They’ve been photographed making rare outings over the years, from partying with Drake to taking smoke breaks at parks.
Michelle and Barack were strict raising their girls, especially during the family’s White House years from 2009 to 2017.
“People are quick to cut a kid off if you don’t show up right and you’ve got a name behind you,” Michelle noted last year. “You have to come correct.”
