The royal family reportedly raised concerns about Meghan Markle’s “very sexy” role on “Suits” when she started dating Prince Harry.
“It is tricky because of the monarchy. Her role in ‘Suits’ was very sexy,” the Duchess of Sussex’s former “Suits” co-star Eric Roberts’ wife, Eliza Roberts, told the Daily Mail.
“Her making love with another man, that was just — they’ve never seen anything like that,” the talent manager, 73, added, referring to Markle’s onscreen romance with Patrick J. Adams, who played Michael Ross.
“She worked so hard to get there. That was just too much. Women don’t give up their jobs for a marriage anymore.”
Eliza said that although she understands Markle’s “intention” by stepping away from her career at the time, the casting director said the As Ever founder “is a young woman who needs to be acting.”
“Meghan is a star,” added Eliza. “From the second you see her, she just has star quality. It doesn’t matter. It was always going to happen.”
Page Six has reached out to Markle’s rep and the royal family for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Markle, 44, portrayed Rachel Zane on the hit USA Network drama for seven seasons until late 2017.
That same year, the mom of two became engaged to Harry. They wed in May 2018.
Markle quit acting and focused on her new role as a working member of the royal family and on philanthropic endeavors.
However, the Invictus Games founder, 41, and the former “Archetypes” podcast host quit the royal family in 2020 and moved to the US, where they now reside with their two children: Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
Last November, Page Six reported that Markle had made her shocking return to acting, joining the cast of “Close Personal Friends,” which stars Jack Quaid, Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
Markle will reportedly play herself in the film, which follows two couples where one is famous and the other is not.
During her first day on set, an insider told People that the “With Love, Meghan” alum made a nice gesture by introducing herself to everyone and by being “very sweet and down-to-earth.”
Aside from “Suits,” Markle has also acted in “General Hospital,” “Horrible Bosses” and “Remember Me.”
