The 2026 French Open is here, marking an opportunity for No. 4-ranked player Coco Gauff to repeat. Although the American superstar won the French Open title last year, Gauff hasn’t captured victory since the Wuhan Open in October 2025. This could be a good chance for the 22-year-old to win back-to-back La Coupe Suzanne-Lenglen trophies at Roland-Garros.

This year, Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka landed in the same half after the draw, setting up the potential for a semifinal clash. Gauff beat Sabalenka at the 2025 French Open, although Iga Swiątek, the 2024 winner, is the odds-favorite to win this year’s edition. Of the Pole’s six Majors, four have been in the French Open.
On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner is only missing a French Open title on his way to his first career grand slam. His closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, the back-to-back reigning champion at Roland-Garros, will miss the tournament and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.
Sinner also avoids an early meeting with Novak Djokovic, who landed in the opposite half of the draw. That sets up the potential for a Sinner vs. Djokovic final, although the Serbian veteran has to get through tough competition on his way to the final, including Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round, and potentially Joao Fonseca, Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev.
