Mario Dewar Barrett, known mononymously as Mario, was groped by a married female fan during a recent concert.
The R&B singer was performing at the Jack White Theatre at the Detroit Masonic Temple in Detroit, Mich., on Saturday night when the shocking assault occurred.
A TikTok user who was in the front row of the audience was filming Barrett, 39, serenading the crowd when a woman who was standing near her slowly reached her left hand up and grabbed the musician’s crotch.
Notably, the woman was wearing a wedding ring.
An uncomfortable-looking Barrett continued singing as he removed the perpetrator’s hand and scolded her.
“Stop doing that, please,” he seemingly said before backing away and continuing the show.
“When a fan grabs your private area 😩,” the TikTok user wrote atop her video.
She captioned the clip, “He was actually pretty nice about it, I thought his security was about to rush her lol but girl it looks like she had a whole wedding ring on😳.”
Commenters were horrified and outraged.
“that’s literal assault!” one of them remarked.
“Because why would you think that was ok tho,” someone else wondered.
“that’s not okay by any standard,” another critic wrote.
“he looks embarrassed 😭😭,” a fourth dissenter observed.
Reps for Barrett did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
