As always, 10 films are in contention for the biggest prize of the night: Best Picture. One of the ten is ‘Sinners,” which made history this morning. With 16 total nominations, “Sinners” is now the most-nominated film in the 98-year history of the Academy Awards.
Other films in contention for the top prize are Golden Globe Best Picture winners “One Battle After Another” and “Hamnet;” the blockbuster “F1;” “Marty Supreme,” marking Timothée Chalamet’s first nod as a producer; and “Bugonia,” the collaboration between Emma Stone director Yorgos Lanthimos.
The lineup this year also includes two films also nominated in the Best International Feature Film category: “The Secret Agent” and “Sentimental Value.”

Jesse Plemons stars as conspiracy theorist who kidnaps a pharma CEO (Oscar-nominated Emma Stone) he’s convinced is an alien sent from her own planet to destroy Earth, everyone and everything that inhabits it in this comedic sci-fi thriller from director Yorgos Lanthimos and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Will Tracy.

“F1” stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver returning to the sport 30 years after a crash derailed his career at the request of his former teammate, who now owns a racing team. The racing team is struggling and could fold by the end of the season, so it’s up to Sonny to mentor his younger teammate (Damson Idris) to try and bring home a win that saves the APXGP team.
Where is “F1” streaming? As an Apple Original film, “F1” is currently streaming on Apple TV (seven-day free trial for new users).
Jacob Elordi is Oscar-nominated for his work as the Creature (also known as Frankenstein’s Monster) in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of “Frankenstein.” The faithful retelling of Mary Shelley’s Gothic novel follows an egotistical scientist (Oscar Isaac) determined to create life despite dangerous consequences.
Where is “Frankenstein” streaming? Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
‘Hamnet’
“Hamnet” tells the real story behind one of the most famous plays of all time, William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Paul Mescal plays Shakespeare and Jessie Buckley plays his wife Agnes in the film, which explores the Shakespeares’ family life before and after tragedy strikes.
Where is “Hamnet” streaming? Right now, you’ll need to head to your local movie theater to check out “Hamnet.”
Timothée Chalamet plays the titular character in “Marty Supreme,” marking the eighth time Chalamet has appeared in a Best Picture nominee (and his third nomination for Best Actor). The Josh Safdie-directed f film follows professional table tennis player Marty Mauser as he goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness and to achieve a dream that no one in his life understands.
Where is “Marty Supreme” streaming? “Marty Supreme” is still playing in theaters, but it is available to preorder on Prime Video. A digital release date has not been confirmed.
In addition to the Best Picture nomination and a handful of others, actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Teyana Taylor are nominated for their performances in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.” DiCaprio stars as a washed up revolutionary who is forced back into that combative lifestyle when his teenage daughter is pursued by a corrupt military officer and old adversary of his.

Marcelo (Academy Award nominee Wagner Moura) is on the run after becoming the target of a dictator amid the ruthless, political tumult of 1977 Brazil. With the help of compatriots in the country’s growing underground resistance, Marcelo hopes to escape Brazil with his young son.
Where is “The Secret Agent” streaming? “The Secret Agent” is still playing in theaters, but it is available to preorder on Prime Video. A digital release date has not been confirmed.
Joachim Trier’s family drama garnered the most acting nominations of any film this year with four total. The film follows sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) reunite with their estranged father, Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), a film director in production on a movie he hopes will be his comeback. Gustav offers Nora a role in the film; she turns it down, but discovers he’s given the role to an eager young American starlet (Elle Fanning).
Where is “Sentimental Value” streaming? “Sentimental Value” is currently available to buy ($19.99) and rent ($14.99) from Prime Video.
Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” smashed the Academy’s record and became the most-nominated film in Oscars history with 16 nods (previously “All About Eve,” “Titanic,” and “La La Land” jointly held the record with 14). Michael B. Jordan leads the film in a dual role as twins Smoke and Stack. The twins return to Mississippi between World Wars to open a juke joint for the local Black community using money they stole from Chicago crime syndicates, unaware that a supernatural evil is lurking at their doorstep, ready to strike.

“Train Dreams” spans 80 years, chronicling the quiet life of a logger and railroad worker (Joel Edgerton) in the early 20th-century Pacific Northwest through love, loss, progress, and connection.
