Piers Morgan, 60, announced he was hospitalized and will need surgery after he tripped on a “small step.”
The political commentator, 60, shared the news on Sunday when he posted a selfie in a hospital bed, as he gave a thumbs-up.
In the caption, Morgan listed 10 points on what happened, why he needed surgery and who he jokingly blamed for the fall.
“‼️ BREAKING NEWS ‼️ 1. Tripped on a small step. 2. Inside a London hotel restaurant. (🙄) 3. Fell like a sack of spuds,” he wrote.
Morgan said the fall resulted in a “fractured neck of femur” that was so bad he “needed a new hip.”
The British broadcaster, who is currently recovering in hospital, said he will have to be on crutches for six weeks and is not allowed to fly long distances for three months.
Morgan finished off the list by sarcastically noting that the “New Year (is) off to a cracking start” and that he “blame[s] Donald Trump.”
The former editor, who appeared on Trump’s former reality show, “The Apprentice,” previously was a supporter of the US president but later regretted it after the Jan. 6 insurrection in 2021.
“Trump’s gone mad,” Morgan said days after his supporters stormed the US Capitol building in a violent attempt to disrupt Congress from certifying then-President Joe Biden’s election win.
“I never thought he was capable of this,” Morgan continued, per The Independent. “He has played down to the very worst expectations of his worst critics … But I never imagined the person I had known for 15 years would incite a mob to attack the Capitol in America and attack democracy itself. He didn’t just cross a line, he trampled all over that line.”
The former “America’s Got Talent” judge also slammed Trump, 79, for his unhinged post about the December 2025 deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.
Morgan said on his TV show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, that the comments crossed “every line of basic human decency.”
