Netflix is sharing a slew of updates on their young adult slate.
The streamer announced a new series, Sunshine Girls, on Friday. The show’s been described as a heartfelt coming-of-age series. The series, hailing from digital studio Brat TV and created by Rob Fishman and Nuria Anson, will star Alma Marian as Olivia, Isabella Fowler as Taylor and Erin Rose Park as Riley. It’s set to premiere in December 2026.
“Valley Hills is a perfectly nice California suburb… unless, like Olivia, you’ve lived in New York City your whole life,” the show’s logline reads. “When her parents split up, Olivia is suddenly the new kid at Valley High, where she meets horse girl Taylor and influencer Riley. Freshman year comes at them fast, with false starts, first kisses and family drama, but together these unlikely best friends will find their place in the sun.”
The streaming service announced details on another project from the digital space. Netflix’s Minimum Wage, a new series from American High and based on the American High Shorts across YouTube and other social media platforms, has added Randall Park to the cast.
American High founder Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers. The show has been described as an ensemble workplace series set inside a “chaotic local pizza shop. “Minimum Wage follows a group of teenage employees battling power-tripping managers, an unhinged rush and the slow grind of service-industry burnout,” according to a release. The series will continue to use the rhythm of its digital content.
