If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Mid-Autumn festival without breaking the bank, here is some good news!
Science Centre Singapore will be hosting several programmes from Sept 19 to 27 as part of its Celestial Nights celebration held in conjunction with the National Parks Board (NParks).
The event will feature the Celestial Trail — an illuminated path connecting Science Centre and Japanese Garden.
Starting from Japanese Garden, visitors can follow illuminated deep-space displays along the trail and learn about various moons in the solar system along the way.
Those who complete the trail activities can also unlock a discount on a limited-edition pin featuring Quby — a popular animated character.
The Celestial Trail is free for all and open throughout Sept 19 to 27.
Visitors can also enjoy free stargazing and moon-viewing sessions on the evenings of Sept 25 and 26 at Science Centre’s Observatory and the Water Lily Pavilion at Japanese Garden.
These sessions will run at 15-minute intervals from 7.45pm to 10pm, and are subject to weather conditions.
After walking the trail, guests can grab a bite at outdoor F&B pop-ups at the Science Centre courtyard and also enjoy complimentary White Rabbit ice cream, while stocks last.
From 6.30pm to 9,30pm on Sept 25, musician Chalmers Wong will be performing live acoustic sets under the night sky.
In addition to these free activities, Celestial Nights will also feature ticketed programmes.
One such activity is Moon Legends: From Myth to Mission, a 20-minute live digital planetarium experience at the Omni-Theatre based on the tales of Chang’e, Hou Yi and the Jade Rabbit as well as modern lunar exploration.
Visitors can purchase a ticket for the Live Digital Planetarium Show and viewing through the Science Centre’s main Observatory’s 16-inch telescope at just $4.
The observatory viewing is subject to availability and weather conditions.
On Sept 26, a silent disco parade titled Moonbeats: Afterdark will begin at the Science Centre and head to Japanese Garden before returning to Science Centre Hall A at 8pm.
For the rest of the night, Science Centre’s galleries will transform into an after-hours playground with three DJ channels and a dance floor.
Limited tickets for this programme are available at $25 per person or $40 for the Sonic Soulmates pair bundle.
Each ticket includes a TCM-inspired botanical drink by herbal milk tea brand Luli (worth $15) and access to Celestial Nights on Sept 26.
