Malayalam actor Dileep has been cleared of the 2017 Kerala actress assault case on Monday, December 8. Speaking to the media, the actor said he was framed in the case. He said there was a criminal conspiracy against him in the case.

Kerala Actor Rape Case Verdict: In the dramatic 2017 kidnapping and rape case, actor Dileep was acquitted by the Ernakulam principal sessions court on Monday, December 8. Dileep was charged with planning the crime and recruiting people to carry it out. The group that kidnapped and sexually assaulted the actor, led by Sunil NS, also known as Pulsar Suni, was declared guilty by the court.

What did Dileep say after court acquitted him?

Speaking to reporters, Dileep said, “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty. Truth has won. There is a criminal conspiracy in this case. The conspiracy against me began the moment, when Manju (Manju Warrier) stated that the criminal conspiracy behind the incident must be investigated. A senior officer at that time, along with a team of criminal-minded police personnel chosen by him, orchestrated this action against me.”

“For this purpose, they supported the main accused in the case and the co-accused who were lodged in prison with him, and together this police team created a fabricated story. Then, with the help of certain media organisations and a few journalists who were ready to support them, this fabricated narrative was widely circulated through social media. Today, in court, this fake story created by that police team has collapsed. The real conspiracy in this case was to make me the accused, to destroy my career, my image, and my life in society,” he added.

Next hearing scheduled for December 12

Honey M. Varghese, the district and sessions judge, delivered the ruling on Monday at 11 a.m. On December 12, the court will hold a hearing about the severity of the punishment. On February 17, 2017, the well-known actor was kidnapped and attacked in Kochi while travelling from Thrissur. The survivor’s car was taken over by the gang, according to the prosecution.
