Madonna is returning to the discothèque.
Two decades after the release of her beloved album Confessions on a Dance Floor, the Queen of Pop has been hard at work on a sequel.
“I’m putting my heart and soul into my new music,” she wrote to her Instagram followers in February 2025, “and I can’t wait to share it with you!!”
The timing for the follow-up couldn’t be more perfect, as the original Confessions turned 20 in November 2025.
To mark the milestone anniversary, Madonna dropped a special edition of the 2005 album on streaming services. In addition to its main 12 songs, Confessions on a Dance Floor (Twenty Years Edition) includes three bonus tracks, “Fighting Spirit,” “Super Pop” and “History,” plus remixes of the record’s four singles, “Hung Up,” “Sorry,” “Get Together” and “Jump.”
Confessions on a Dance Floor is widely considered to be one of Madonna’s best albums. It received critical acclaim upon its release and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2007.
To promote the project, Madonna embarked on her Confessions Tour in 2006, which went on to become the highest-grossing outing for a female artist at the time with nearly $195 million at the box office. (Taylor Swift now holds the record with her $2 billion Eras Tour.)
Madonna officially announced Confessions II in April 2026, revealing it will be released later in the year.
Below, Us Weekly rounds up everything we know so far about the highly anticipated follow-up to Confessions on a Dance Floor.
What Will the Album Be Called?
Madonna referred to the sequel as Confessions Part 2 in her February 2025 Instagram post and then dubbed it Confessions Part Deux that July. She confirmed in April 2026 that its official title is Confessions II.
When Will ‘Confessions II’ Be Released?
When Madonna first teased the album in December 2024, she told fans they could expect “new music in 2025!” However, the following September, her label, Warner Records, issued a press release stating that “the Queen of the Dance Floor is set to return with a new album in 2026,” which Madge herself confirmed in a November 2025 Instagram post: “The Disco Era continues! Been listening to Confessions on a Dance Floor on repeat !! It’s so gooooooood! … Can’t wait to share Confessions Part 2 with everyone next year!!!”
In April 2026, Madonna announced the official release date for Confessions II: July 3, 2026.

Who Is Producing ‘Confessions II’?
Madonna revealed in her December 2024 post that she was back in the recording studio with Stuart Price, who was a producer on the original Confessions album.
“These past few months has [sic] been medicine for my SOUL,” she wrote at the time. “Songwriting and making music is the one area where I don’t need to ask anyone for their permission.. i’m so excited to share it with you.”
What Will ‘Confessions II’ Sound Like?
Warner Records confirmed in its September 2025 press release that Madonna was making another “dance album.”
“Madonna isn’t just an artist — she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut,” the label’s co-chairmen, Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson, said in a statement. “For decades, she has not only defined the sound of global pop music but also reshaped culture itself with her vision, innovation and fearless artistry.”
Bay-Schuck and Corson went on to promise “an exciting new era of creativity and impact.”
After announcing Confessions II in April 2026, Madonna dropped a one-minute, mostly instrumental preview of a euphoric song called “I Feel So Free.”
How Many Songs Are on ‘Confessions II’?
Madonna shared in April 2026 that Confessions II will feature 16 new songs. Some limited vinyl LPs and other physical editions of the album will contain only 12 songs, however.
