Elle star Lexi Minetree was “very intimidated” by Reese Witherspoon before she met her.

The 25-year-old actress takes on the role of Elle Woods in the Amazon Prime series – a role made famous by Reese in 2001 movie Legally Blonde.

So providing a new take on the character was a big ask for Lexi.

She said: “I think in the beginning I was very intimidated because it was Reese Witherspoon and enough said there.”

However, once she actually met Reese, she realised she had nothing to worry about.

She told the Hindustan Times: “She just has such a warm presence about her that she just makes you feel very at ease.

“She’s been so supportive this entire time… it’s crazy that she’s just like a one voice memo away and I get to pick her brain on things.”

Lexi added that she was determined not to imitate Reese in the new series, and wanted to bring her own take to the ditzy blonde turned lower.

She said: “I kind of knew going in that I was going to do a mix of both just because one, I think audiences are so smart nowadays and they can sense right away when something’s up and when someone’s trying to mimic someone and not really being authentic.”

Unusually, Prime commissioned a second Elle series before the first had even aired.

But doing so meant it was a “special thing” for Lexi.

She added: “It is kind of a special thing when it’s just yours for a moment. When we were filming season two, I think we all kind of had this feeling of deep appreciation of getting to work together.

“Because we kind of knew it was the last time we’d all get to work together with it just being ours and not the whole world’s.”

Lexi’s interview comes after Reese praised the young star, and revealed the words of advice she gave her before she started filming.

She said: “I was like, ‘I want you to understand the responsibility of what this means to people. Little girls are gonna come up to you, and it’s like a massive responsibility.'”
