The Ashleigh Banfield-sized hole at NewsNation has officially been filled: Katie Pavlich is set to take over her 10 p.m. ET slot as the host of her own program. Pavlich’s show, “focusing on the day’s biggest political news stories,” per NewsNation, will debut in early 2026.

“We’re pleased to give our primetime viewers an additional hour of political news and analysis that helps them make sense of the day’s most important headlines,” said Sean Compton, president of Nexstar Networks. “NewsNation has always been committed to delivering straightforward, fact-based journalism for all Americans, which includes presenting diverse viewpoints and original ideas. Katie is a seasoned journalist and commentator, and we believe her unique voice will be a tremendous asset to our primetime audience.”

Banfield will focus her efforts on digital true-crime programming going forward. Banfield was a true crime program (on linear TV).

“I am honored to join NewsNation during this dynamic period in its development, and the opportunity to anchor a primetime program is an exceptional privilege,” Pavlich said. “I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective on the news to Americans across the country, while presenting a venue for thoughtful debate across a wide spectrum of opinions. It’s a front row seat to history — I can’t wait to buckle in and get started.”

Pavlich spent the past 16 years as news editor of the conservative website Townhall.com. She’s a regular contributor to Fox News Channel and a fill-in co-host on The Five. Pavlich’s authorship includes Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and Assault & Flattery: The Truth About the Left and Their War on Women. So she’s … that kind of journalist. Pavlich holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Arizona.

Banfield will sign off next month, and NewsNation’s primetime lineup will soon look like this:
7 p.m. ET: Elizabeth Vargas
8 p.m. ET: Chris Cuomo
9 p.m. ET: Leland Vittert
10 p.m. ET: Katie Pavlich
