Mammootty’s Kalamkaval has been finding several takers at the Box Office. Read on to know why it has emerged as a massive success.

Kalamkaval, which features Mammootty in a crucial role, has been doing extremely well – both nationally and internationally. It is interesting to see how the film continues to rake in the moolah in the overseas market. For the unversed, the Malayalam crime thriller features a powerful ensemble and is led by two veteran actors: Mammootty and Vinayakan. While Mammootty plays the antagonist, the film’s powerful cast features Rajisha Vijayan, Gayatri Arun, Gibin Gopinath, and Shruti Ramachandran. The film also features Azees Nedumangad, Biju Pappan, and Malavika Menon in key roles.

Kalamkaval Box Office Collection Day 6

On the day of release, Kalamkaval – according to industry tracker Sacnilk – was able to collect an estimated Rs 4.75 crore. Since the movie saw over 900 shows across India, Kalamkaval was able to record an overall day-one occupancy of 49.29%. The film’s collections remained steady through the weekend. While Day 2 saw the collection of Rs 5.5 crores and Day 3’s collection amounted to 6 crores. Day 4 too witnessed saw a 51.67% fall. Day 4 and Day 5 also similar collections of Rs 2.9 and 2.8 crore. On Day 6, it earned Rs 0.17 crore in India.

Mammootty gets HIGHEST paycheck

Mammootty is seen playing a vicious character in Kalamkaval. The actor had earlier confirmed that he will essay the role of an antagonist. According to reports, Mammootty allegedly took home the highest paycheck of Rs. 8-10 crore.

How much was Vinayakan paid?

Mammootty had earlier mentioned that the role that was essayed by Vinayakan was originally offered to him. However, Mammootty thought that Vinayakan would do complete justice to the character of cop. He had referred to Vinayakan as the ‘hero’ of the film. Vinayakan was reportedly paid Rs. 2 to Rs. 3 crore.

Kalamkaval takes the viewers back to the early 2000s in southern Kerala. It revolves around the story of ‘Officer Jayakrishnan’ as he tries to find out the real cause of a communal riot. What had initially emerged as a fight over an eloping couple soon turns dark. This happens when ‘Jayakrishnan’ unearths a series of cases that involve missing women under unsettling similarities.
