Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong was on a different kind of campaign on Sunday night: To Make After Oscars Great Again.
Spies tell Page Six that “The Apprentice” star hosted a “MAOGA” party at the starry San Vicente Bungalows with Jon Batiste and the private club’s Jeff Klein following the Academy Awards.
An invitation seen by Page Six announced “no red carpet,” and that cocktails and burgers would be served. (We hear the burgers were from famed three-Michelin-star eatery Noma, which flew over a group of chefs for the occasion from Copenhagen.)
Insiders told us the idea was to return to the more personal and cozy parties of an earlier era when legends like Swifty Lazar and Ed Limato threw bashes at their homes — rather than the bloated corporate mega-bashes that now dominate the awards circuit.
(Even music manager Guy Oseary’s coveted Oscars party invitation had logos of Capital One, Starbucks and Salesforce on it this year, we hear.)
Supporting the MAOGA cause, spies told us, were guests including Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Ben Stiller, Zooey Deschanel, Casey Affleck, Jon Neidich, Anna Kendrick, Helena Christensen and artist and director Julian Schnabel.
The chic crowd also included a mix of agents, execs and cool kids, prompting one veteran literary type to say it reminded them of the first Oscar party they’d been to in their 20s.
It was such an under-the-radar hit, guests who got to attend are hoping the bash will become an annual new old-school tradition.
Klein’s San Vicente Bungalows is opening a luxe NYC outpost in the West Village, which unofficially launched when it recently hosted “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels’ private bash celebrating his Radio City Music Hall show co-produced by Mark Ronson.
The San Vicente West Village party brought out guests including Lady Gaga, Cher, Kevin Costner, Adam Sandler, Arcade Fire, Eddie Vedder, David Byrne, Dave Grohl, Anya Taylor-Joy, Judd Apatow, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Jim Gaffigan, Gayle King, Peyton Manning, Jason Momoa and more.
