Jennifer Lopez is nothing if not a fashion maverick.

The multi-hyphenate made waves with her choice of accessory Sunday, when she turned up at the Wimbledon 2026 men’s singles final shading her face with an oversized straw hat.

Lopez slipped into a cream-toned Ralph Lauren wrap dress, paired with cane heeled sandals for Sunday’s match. The dress was vintage and was first shown on the spring/summer 2009 runway — albeit with a decidedly smaller topper.

The singer was seated in the Royal Box, which brings with it their own list of dress code requirements.

“Ladies are asked not to wear hats,” the official website reads, “as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.”

It is true that Lopez technically broke the rule but — especially during this current heatwave, many in the Royal Box have wavered — wearing both small or wide-brimmed hats that shield their face from the sun.

In fact, right next to Lopez, many broke out their low-profile Ralph Lauren caps while Nicole Kidman and even Princess Kate herself went wide-brimmed for part of the game. Princess Charlotte as well as countless others around them chose the official Wimbledon Panama hat as well.

But, the enormity of Lopez’s choice seems to have taken it too far — at least according to tennis fans.

The hat quickly became the source of much Wimbledon fodder on social media.

One X user wrote that the hat “could cast a shadow over the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome,” while another replied “she’s providing the eclipse for the entire back row.”

One comment read, “JLo looks like she has made her hat from an amazon box!”

Whether with encouraging or by choice, she eventually removed the hat, offering an unobstructed view of the match for all those around her, including Cynia Erivo who sat above her right shoulder — newsboy cap and all.
