Lights, camera… back alley?
Emily Blunt made a stealthy escape through the labyrinthine back-of-house maze of her hotel on her way to the “Devil Wears Prada 2” premiere in NYC on Monday night. The British actress slipped past dumpsters and out a service door to avoid paparazzi snapping her top-secret red carpet look.
A source tells us that Blunt — who wore a champagne colored couture dress with a large tiered skirt and a necklace of more than 300 pearls — was spotted weaving through the service corridors of the lux Peninsula with a sizable entourage before arriving at Lincoln Center.
A spy tells us it was a “funny sight to see Blunt in a massive, priceless couture Schiaparelli gown passing by dumpsters and staff folding laundry.”
“The housekeeping staff were totally taken by surprise,” says the spy.
A fashion source tells us the dress, from Daniel Roseberry’s Spring/Summer 2026 Couture collection, was so complex that Blunt, 43, was not able to sit down.
We hear after escaping through a discreet back exit of the hotel, Blunt jumped into a Sprinter van where she presumably stood for the 15-minute ride to the star-studded affair where she joined co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.
Blunt, who later changed into a Balmain look with a much smaller skirt for the afterparty, reprises her role as Emily Charlton in the flick.
Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Christian Siriano, Marc Jacobs, Dylan Sprouse, Heidi Klum and new dad Justin Theroux also hit the red carpet.
