Harshvardhan Rane calls himself the poster boy of delayed gratification. And rightly so. The actor has finally tasted box office success like never before, with not a new film, but his debut movie, that too 9 years later. Sanam Teri Kasam re-released in the theatres and has created new box office records for a re-release. The actor has been basking in the success, finally enjoying the much deserved appreciation for his performance. The film was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru and produced by Deepak Mukut. It also starred Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane as the female lead.
The actor has a struggle of 25 years behind him, including the 9 years since his debut film hit the theatres but failed to change things for him. In the latest episode of Spotlight With Smrity, we asked Harshvardhan Rane if he feels frustrated about the delayed success and if he thinks that if this would have been the case 9 years ago, his career trajectory would have been much different. With great clarity in his thoughts and belief system, Harsh tells us, “I don’t have any frustration since that comes from expectations. But I had no expectations at my debut. No one ever told me what is the definition that a film has worked, how much should it earn to be called successful. So there was no expectation set. My mind worked in a different manner, in a solution oriented way.”
Further revealing what he did right after his debut movie to survive in Bollywood and to keep up the motivation, Harsh says, “When something doesn’t work my mind starts working on how to make this right. So when this didn’t work, I knew that it would now be an uphill journey. So I started thinking that as an actor what are the things that I should start doing to become better.”
Watch Harshvardhan Rane reveal if he feels frustrated due to the delayed success:
Harshvardhan Rane has a strong belief system and he is aware of his limitations as an actor in the business of film, and his responsibility as an actor. Therefore, he had no answer when we asked him who should be the female lead in the sequel of his film Sanam Teri Kasam 2. He also told us that it is the producer of a film that he is more interested in since they are the ones that make things happen finally.
