Following what it called “a record year,” the Colombia Film Commission at Proimágenes Colombia has unveiled that the Audiovisual Investment Certificate (CINA) budget allocation for tax credits for foreign film, TV and video game productions has been boosted to COP 350 billion, approximately $90 million. That represents a 49 percent increase compared to 2025 and the largest amount in the history of the production incentive.

This year, the CINA allocation was fully assigned by September. The increase for 2026 “reaffirms the Colombian government’s confidence in the sustained growth of the audiovisual sector and the positive impact of this public policy in attracting international investment,” the organization said.

The country has two tax incentives. One is CINA, which offers “a transferable tax credit equivalent to 35 percent of eligible expenses incurred by foreign productions in Colombia on audiovisual and logistical services,” per the film commission. The other is the Colombia Film Fund (FFC), which provides “a cash rebate of 40 percent on audiovisual services and 20 percent on logistical services carried out in the country.” Both incentives are designed to attract audiovisual and video game projects.

Since its inception, CINA has supported more than 165 international audiovisual projects, generating more than COP 3.4 trillion ($861 million) in investment and creating over 130,000 direct jobs, “establishing Colombia as one of the most competitive production destinations in the region,” according to the Colombia Film Commission.

This year, 32 projects were approved, “fully allocating the available budget across film, series, unscripted formats, video games, post-production, and animation,” it said. “These included productions for global platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon, and Disney+, as well as productions led by major international studios, including Sony Pictures and Paramount, alongside international feature films and independent productions.”

Said Silvia Echeverri, director of the Colombia Film Commission at Proimágenes Colombia: “The success of CINA in 2025 demonstrates that Colombia has a solid, reliable and internationally competitive incentive system. With the 2026 CINA allocation, we are marking a milestone in our strategy to consolidate Colombia as a strategic partner for large-scale audiovisual projects. This increase responds to the confidence of international producers, who have found in Colombia highly qualified talent, powerful stories, diverse locations and a robust, globally competitive incentive system,” International producers have echoed this confidence.”

Matthew Patnick, executive producer of The Night Manager season 2, said: “It was a massive decision to come over to Colombia. The tax incentive is so favorable to productions coming here; it made everything much easier and had a huge financial impact on the show.”

Looking ahead to 2026, several high-profile projects that have benefitted from CINA are scheduled to premiere, including season 2 of One Hundred Years of Solitude (Netflix), the second season of The Night Manager (Amazon), starring Tom Hiddleston, as well as a documentary on Colombian soccer star James Rodríguez (Netflix).
