Amaal Mallik, the popular musician, has opened up about not just his battle with clinical depression, but also announced his decision to maintain distance from his family. Amaal took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note wherein he spoke at length about the pain he has had to go through for years and how his relationship with his brother, Armaan Malik turned difficult due to their parents. He further revealed that moving forward, his interactions with his family will remain professional.
Amaal further expressed that he worked for years inexhaustibly in the music industry, and created 126 tracks over the last 10 years. Irrespective of his efforts, he was made to feel less by his family, which took a toll on his mental health and self-worth. He also blamed his parents for creating distance between him and his brother.
Amaal Malik’s shocking revelations
Amaal Malik, while talking about his journey, also stated that he and Armaan left no stone unturned in creating a space for themselves in the music industry, and to ensure they weren’t recognized just as someone’s nephew or son. He wrote, “I along with my brother’s vocal prowess have changed the narrative of being called XYZ’s nephew or son to whoever we are today! The journey has been terrific for the both of us but the actions of my parents have been the reason we as brothers have gone too far from one another and all of this has made me step in for myself as it has left a very deep scar left across my heart.”
He further revealed, “But today I stand at a point where I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally and maybe financially too but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings. Yes I have only myself to blame for my actions but my self worth has been diminished countless times by actions of near and dear ones that stole pieces of my soul.” This is a big story in entertainment news.
Amaal also laid stress on his conscious decision to cut personal ties with his family. “Today, with a heavy heart, I announce that I am stepping away from these personal ties. From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn’t a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life. I refuse to let the past rob me of my future any longer. I am committed to rebuilding my life, piece by piece, with honesty and strength,” he posted in his note.
In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Amaal’s mother, Jyothi Mallik, shared her first reaction. “I don’t think you (media) need to be involved in all this. Whatever he has put is his choice. I am sorry. Thank you,” she said.
For the unversed, Amaal kicked off his career at a young age, and also assisted in producing and arranging music. Amaal is the older son of composer Daboo Mallik and Jyothi Mallik.
