While Singaporeans might be accustomed to clearing immigration speedily at Changi Airport, it seems that this is something one tourist found impressive.
In a video posted on TikTok on Aug 16, the Spanish national who goes by Percius said that Singapore is one of the most efficient countries he has seen in his life and that it was “built different”.
The holder of a Spanish passport explained that immigration took up hours of his time in countries such as China and South Korea, while it took just five minutes in Singapore.
“Sure, I had a pre-arrival visa and everything, but this country is so efficient,” he added.
Percius also shared that he was impressed at how the MRT system was quick, non-delayed and clean.
He also highlighted the high quality of service he received in Singapore.
“Europe…just start taking notes,” he said, adding that it is “more than 20 years behind”.
The 47-second video has garnered over 170,000 views so far, with netizens both agreeing and disagreeing with Percius’ sentiments.
One netizen joked: “5 minutes?! That’s too long — totally unacceptable! As a Singaporean, 10 seconds MAXIMUM is the threshold.”
“So now you can understand why our neighbours dislike us, because when we travel, we’re quite impatient. Have to constantly remind myself and my travel partners to take it easy,” read another comment.
Another netizen wrote: “Singapore is great for tourists. Us locals living here have very big challenges.”
