Bette Midler has been brutally mocked for her ‘humiliating’ performance at an anti-Trump event which took place as counter-programming to UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday.

The 80-year-old actress took to the stage at the Rise Up, Sing Out concert in NYC and was joined by other celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Robert De Niro and Julia Roberts.

At the same time, President Trump attended the UFC fight that took place in front of the White House on the South Lawn and simultaneously rang in his 80th birthday.

Midler performed her own rendition of the track All You Fascists Bound To Lose by Woody Guthrie and altered some of the lyrics.

‘All you fascists bound to lose. Lose, you fascists bound to lose,’ the Hocus Pocus star sang to the crowd and those streaming the event.

‘We’ll battle ICE together, until they cut and run, just like in Minneapolis, and when the midterms come you’re bound to lose, you fascists bound to lose.’

Midler had been accompanied by backup singers during her performance, and some social media users took to X to offer their thoughts.

One penned, ‘I refuse to believe this is real,’ while another typed, ‘Holy moly this is sooooooo painfully bad… hahaha.’

‘OMG I regret to inform you liberals are “singing” again. Good lord. Second hand embarrassment is real,’ an X user wrote.

Another said, ‘Bette Midler was an iconic, masterful performer. Take a few minutes to listen to “The Rose” or the 1997 “Hello Dolly” cast album.

‘I’m stunned to see how far she fell off the rails. This mess she’s singing is just so embarrassing,’ they added.

One commented, ‘…this gives me second hand embarrassment. How cringe.’

‘This was @TheDemocrats alternative to the Greatest American President Trump’s celebration at the White House last night. This is like a bad PBS telethon. Humiliating and just an embarrassment,’ another shared.

‘So hard to watch. They think having 80 year old Bette Midler is better than celebrating the 80th birthday of President Trump? Poor dears,’ they added, while others offered support to the songstress.

A fan penned, ‘Bette Midler could read the phone book and I’d still be entertained. Absolute icon, always serving up highs and lows with that voice. What a legend!’

Another said, ‘There’s something about Bette Midler that just brings joy and a touch of brilliance into the world. Her presence reminds us how powerful art can be in shaping lives and moments.’

Before her performance, Midler stated that she was thrilled to be surrounded by a community that is ‘so bright, so intelligent, so well-meaning… so desperate for justice.’

The actress has been a vocal critic of Trump and his administration over the years.

Back in 2024, Midler deactivated her X account when Trump won the U.S. presidential election against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

Shortly before doing so, she had shared a lengthy statement about the now 47th President of the United States, saying that his mind ‘is a virtual vacuum.’

‘As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal.’

She added at the time, ‘On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.’

‘Good evening everyone, and welcome to all of you who couldn’t get tickets to the White House cage fight,’ the actor stated as he took to the stage.

Elsewhere during his speech, he added, ‘I hate to say it, but loving our country is starting to sound like an abused spouse saying they love their abuser.

‘I can’t love a country that’s led by a racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant.’

He then took part in a ‘Go f*** yourself’ chant with the crowd in attendance which was geared towards Trump.

Jane Fonda was also in attendance and expressed, ‘Right now, the government and its cronies [are] routinely violating its First Amendment to silence artists.’

She later added that ‘our democracy is in peril. In the face of what’s happening, we need our industry to be unified, activated and unwilling to engage in anticipatory obedience.

‘We stand together in defense of our right to free expression. They come for one of us, by God, they come for all of us.’
