Anna Faris opened up about how work got her through her divorce from Chris Pratt after eight years of marriage.
“I was feeling sad,” the actress recounted about the split in a Variety profile published Saturday, before noting that producing her podcast “Anna Faris Is Unqualified,” “helped a lot” during that time.
Faris, 49, and Pratt, 46, tied the knot in 2009 before welcoming son Jack, now ,13, in 2012.
The pair divorced in 2018.
“I’m lucky that at that time I had my podcast,” the “Scary Movie” star explained. “I wanted, like, four people to listen and to build my own secret community. I wanted an avenue outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people.”
Despite having “a constant desire to connect with people,” Faris admitted she “didn’t disclose a lot on the podcast,” but felt like she could if she “needed to.”
“It made me think, ‘I know I could be happy if I’m writing because I’ve always loved that, and maybe that’s an avenue to make money,’” the “House Bunny” actress continued.
At that time, Faris was “thinking of a version of retirement.”
Now, “the opportunities are more bountiful than they’ve ever been!”
“I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude,” Faris confessed. “When people see me, they usually smile and say, ‘Oh, I love ‘The House Bunny” or ‘Oh, I love ‘Scary Movi’e’ or ‘Mom’ helped me through that hard time.’”
Faris told the outlet, that while she had “enough gumption, enough of a core” to get through her divorce and the chatter of Hollywood, she would be “naïve” to think that being in the spotlight for 26 years didn’t “shape” who she is.
“But, f–k the scrutiny,” Faris remarked.
Meanwhile, the “Hot Chick” actress did share a deeper look into what made her marriage fail during a 2021 episode of her podcast.
Faris told guest Gwyneth Paltrow that her past two husbands — she was previously married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008 — were actors, and they didn’t do “a great job of eliminating competitiveness.”
“Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability,” she added.
However, after their split, both Faris and Pratt found love again.
The “Parks and Recreation” star married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and the couple shares kids, Lyla, 5, Eloise, 4, and Ford, 1.
For her part, Faris tied the knot with Michael Barrett in 2021.
