Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eldest daughter has officially dropped her dad’s name from her surname.
On Monday (Sept 28), a judge granted 21-year-old Zahara’s petition to legally change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie.
An order obtained by the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six stated: “There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted.
“The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner’s name is changed from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie.”
A source close to Brad blasted the move.
They told Page Six: “This is the latest instalment in what complete and total alienation looks like with an extra topping of trying to deflect attention from their ex’s success. Anyone who has actually been a part of this for the last ten years would know that there’s only one side that talks about and has tried to weaponise the kids.”
But in response, a second source hit back: “Today’s hearing was required by law and scheduled months ago by the L.A. court system. It’s a new low to have his camp spin a conspiracy theory, disavow responsibility for his conduct, and attack his own child.
“Keep in mind, his daughter has had the grace not to discuss the details of his behaviour in public.”
The ruling comes more than two months after Zahara and her brother Maddox — who officially dropped Brad’s surname earlier this month — took out newspaper advertisements announcing their name change petitions, as per legal requirements.
The notices allowed anyone who opposed the change the chance to submit a written objection.
Zahara had already stopped using the Moneyball actor’s surname in private before the official ruling.
In May, she was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie when accepting her diploma as she graduated from Spelman College, and she had previously used the shorter moniker during her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction ceremony back in 2023.
As well as Zahara and Maddox, 25, younger sister Shiloh, 20, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing a petition on her 18th birthday back in May 2024.
Youngest Vivienne, 18, is taking legal steps to also remove Pitt from her surname, having previously used Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill when she worked with the Maleficent actress on a Broadway production of The Outsiders.
Her twin brother, Knox, hasn’t gone down the court route but did drop Pitt from his surname when he collected his high school diploma this year.
Pax Jolie-Pitt, 22, is said to still be close to Brad’s family, though it has been reported he has little contact with the Heart of the Beast actor himself.
