When Cantopop’s heavenly kings Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung meet these days, they talk about parenting.
Aaron revealed to Hong Kong media in a report on Sept 4 that his daughters Chantelle, nine, and seven-year-old Charlotte are enrolled at the prestigious Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA), the same school as Andy’s child.
The 60-year-old singer-actor told reporters he had heard that 14-year-old Hanna is also there. “He knows his stuff! If even Andy chose it, it’s definitely a good choice.”
Aaron shared that he heard about the school’s direction and found their teaching style from a friend who had studied there to be relatively liberal.
VSA is an international school in Hong Kong that provides bilingual International Baccalaureate education through its primary years, middle years and diploma programmes.
HK01 reported that the annual tuition fee for the primary years programme is about HK$191,700 (S$31,000) per student. This would mean Aaron spends close to S$62,000 per year on school fees for his two daughters.
About their education, he said: “I don’t think I should put too much pressure on them, and I won’t require them to study as soon as they get home, otherwise they may get myopia easily.
“I just hope they are free and happy, but they must also complete their basic education.”
Aaron, who visited Singapore recently with his family, declined to further discuss his daughters’ education to allow them to have a private learning environment.
He added that when he runs into Andy and Jacky occasionally, “we just talk about our experiences raising our children”.
Jacky has two daughters Zoe, 26, and Zia, 21, with his wife, former actress May Lo.
