What’s hot about Sikandar?

Salman Khan fans have been waiting to see him back on the big screen on Eid in his full glory and that’s what they get with Sikandar. The star delivers a powerful performance, showcasing his versatility in action, emotion, and romance. His screen presence is magnetic, and he successfully carries the film on his shoulders. There is a particular emotional scene with Salman and a child actor in the second half and it is a total delight to see the superstar ace it.

The film features high-octane action scenes that are well-choreographed and thrilling to watch. Thankfully, even though they are over-the-top, they remain believable and a treat for action movie enthusiasts.

Despite limited screen time, Rashmika Mandanna leaves a lasting impression with her graceful presence and strong chemistry with Salman. Their age difference is justified in a subtle way and there are no cringe moments between the two. Like every other actor, even Salman isn’t playing his age in the film, but he knows his limitations and restraints where he needs to.

As an Eid release, Sikandar is designed to entertain, with a mix of drama, romance, and action that can be deemed paisa-wasool for fans of the Khan. The songs are entertaining to watch due to the music, choreography and the grand scale at which they are shot but beyond the movie, only Sikandar Naache Naache will stay with you.

The supporting cast makes the most of their limited screen time. However, Sikandar is undeniably a Salman Khan showcase. Fans will be pleased to know that unlike his recent films, this one ensures Bhaijaan is front and center in nearly every scene.

What’s not?

The biggest drawback of the film perhaps is the film’s narrative. The story lacks depth making it predictable and less engaging. The pacing is uneven, and some scenes feel unnecessarily stretched. The antagonist, played by Sathyaraj, is portrayed in a stereotypical manner, lacking the complexity that could have made the character more compelling. You’d also wonder why Sharman Joshi would do such a non-impactful role. There was scope for a better character arc but the makers seem to be plagued with oversight in a lot of aspects. The film had the potential to explore deeper themes and character arcs but instead its formulaic approach caters primarily to Salman Khan’s fanbase. The dialogues lack punch whatsoever and it is only Bhaijaan ka swag that saves the show.

Verdict

Sikandar is a film that will likely appeal to die-hard fans of Salman Khan, thanks to his charismatic performance and the film’s action-packed sequences. However, for those seeking a strong storyline and innovative direction, it might fall short. It’s an entertaining watch for a festive occasion but doesn’t offer much beyond the surface-level thrills.
