Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been everyone’s favourite show since its debut in 2008. The show revolves around Jethalal, which is played by Dilip Joshi. The show managed to garner massive popularity because of Disha Vakani’s impeccable portrayal of Daya Ben which has now become one of its most iconic characters. However, after Disha went on a maternity break following her marriage and the birth of her child, she did not return. This left her fans eagerly waiting for a replacement.
For the past few days, rumours have suggested that the makers have finalised the actor Kajal Pisal to play new Daya ben, but are these rumours true?
In an interview with entertainment news portal Zoom TV, Kajal Pisal has shared the truth. The actress mentioned that the rumours of her joining Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are fake. She stated that she auditioned for the role back in 2022. However, she did not get a revert from the makers. Now she is busy with the TV serial Jhanak. The actress was quoted saying, “I am already working on Jhanak, so this is entirely incorrect. Yes, I did audition for Daya Ben in 2022, and those pictures are resurfacing now. But as of now, I can confirm that this is totally fake news.”
The rumours hit headlines after the makers allegedly confirmed that they have found a new Daya, but refrained from sharing the name of the actress. Later, a post made by Kajal Pisal in 2022 went viral in which she shared the picture of her dressed as Daya ben mentioning that she had given the look test. Even then rumours of her playing the lead in TMKOC continued. In the caption, she clarified that she did not get any revert. She wrote, “In no way it has affected my career. Just that I felt playing Daya will be my biggest opportunity but everything is about DESTINY. I’m an artist and will continue to give my best to upcoming projects.”
Looks like fans will have to wait for the makers to unveil the new Daya ben of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
