Travellers looking to visit Kazakhstan will soon be able to fly there via a new carrier arriving in Singapore.
Kazakh carrier SCAT Airlines will be operating flights between Changi Airport and Shymkent via Sanya, China from Oct 20, it said in a press release.
Shymkent is known for its rich history and mountainous landscape.
Located in southern Kazakhstan, close to its border with Uzbekistan, it is also a convenient location for those looking to visit the neighbouring country.
According to the airline, the flight from Singapore to Sanya will be about three hours long.
Passengers will then have a two-hour layover in the coastal city on Hainan Island before embarking on a 6.5 hour flight to Shymkent.
SCAT Airlines also assured that travellers will not need to go through passport control in China, making it that much more fuss-free.
This new route will be operated on the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft twice a week, the airline said.
According to a Facebook post by Changi Airport on Tuesday (Sept 8), it is also the airport’s first direct connection to Central Asia since 2019.
Travellers can already start booking their flights for the upcoming months via SCAT Airlines’ website.
