Meghan Markle honored late mother-in-law Princess Diana on a date night with Prince Harry in Canada.
The Duchess of Sussex wore Diana’s diamond and sapphire earrings at a gala celebrating the 40th anniversary of David Foster’s foundation on Friday, according to People.
Markle, 45, paired her special jewelry with a black dress by Canadian designer Greta Constantine.
Harry, meanwhile, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo with a matching bow tie.
The couple joined Foster’s wife, Katharine McPhee, Adam Levine, Josh Groban and others in attending the David Foster Foundation gala, which was followed by a free concert at the Victoria Inner Harbour on Saturday.
Foster, 76, is close friends with the Sussexes, having famously arranged their private Vancouver Island getaway in late 2019 before the couple quit their royal duties.
But their bond actually stems from McPhee, 42, and Markle attending the same middle school in Los Angeles.
“She went to a school called Immaculate Heart, as did I,” McPhee said in an “Access” interview in 2020. “She went there for middle school and high school, and I went there just for middle school. My sister was in her class, my sister was in middle school with her, and I was in middle school when she was in high school, so I did a couple shows with her.”
The “American Idol” alum also said at the time that her husband “has a really, really beautiful relationship” with Harry, comparing them to “father and son.”
Over the years, Markle has paid homage to Diana’s style, despite never meeting the late royal, who died in a car accident at the age of 36 in 1997.
During her and Harry’s 2024 trip to Nigeria, Markle wore a gold cross necklace that a source told Page Six belonged to Diana.
One year earlier, the “Suits” alum was seen wearing Diana’s Cartier watch during a hike.
Markle also spoke about Diana on “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” in April, when the host read a quote from Harry — who was 12 when Diana died — about how his wife and mom are “so similar.”
“She has the same compassion. She has the same empathy. She has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her,” Lima said, quoting Harry, before she asked Markle, “How do you feel about him sharing that?”
“It’s beautiful,” Meghan replied. “I wish I could have met her.”
