Farmer Wants A Wife star Jason Tessmann has confirmed his relationship with co-star Poppy is over – although the former couple can’t agree on when exactly it ended.
The Queensland dairy farmer, 37, has revealed business manager Poppy, 31, ended their romance shortly after the reunion, leaving him blindsided.
While the pair presented a united front during the reunion special, Jason claims the relationship unravelled within days once filming wrapped.
‘It was something I wasn’t expecting,’ Jason told New Idea.
‘She said she wasn’t feeling it… It’s basically all she said, really.’
However, Poppy has offered a very different version of events, insisting the pair continued dating for around three months after the reunion.

‘It didn’t end immediately,’ she said.
However, Jason disputes that timeline, explaining that, although they had known each other for around three months – including the production period – he says their relationship after the reunion lasted only days.
‘I think the reunion was like on a Friday. We flew back to Brisbane on a Saturday,’ he recalled.
‘I drove back home on Sunday morning. She went back to her place, and texting went pretty quiet on her end during the week, and then she called me and said, “It’s over”.’
For her part, Poppy said she ultimately realised their relationship was not right for her.
‘It was just differences. I didn’t feel that attraction as much as I thought I might have or hoped,’ she explained.
‘I didn’t want to string anybody along. I spent time getting to know him through the show and afterwards, and I just felt he wasn’t my kind of person I could see long-term, despite giving it lots of time and chances.’
She added that ending the romance came down to an honest conversation.

‘It was as simple as a phone call,’ she said.
‘I called him and spoke openly, telling him I wasn’t feeling the way I wanted by then, after those few months of getting to know him… I didn’t think it would be fair to continue when I just wasn’t feeling that way.’
The split was especially difficult for Jason because Poppy had already become part of his family’s life.
The pair spent Christmas together after filming wrapped in late 2025 and before the reunion was filmed in January.
Jason also introduced Poppy to his children.
‘She met my kids and family, and we had Christmas together. So everything seemed to be going all right at that time,’ he said.
‘My kids obviously liked her, and she got on well with them, and they were a bit upset when she left, so, obviously, telling them wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but… she wasn’t feeling it.’
Poppy’s decision not to have children was a major talking point during the series, but both insist it was never an issue between them because they discussed it early in their relationship.
Despite the heartbreak, Jason says he has no regrets about taking part in the hit Channel Seven reality TV series.
‘I don’t have any regrets about doing the show or anything,’ he said.
‘I was a bit embarrassed. Like, you go on to meet someone, and literally as soon as filming finishes, it’s over.’
