Zayn Malik appears to be having a little fun with former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles.
In a clip circulating on social media, Malik, 33, thanked fans for attending one of his recent shows at Las Vegas’ Dolby Live at Park MGM and appeared to crack a joke about ticket prices for Styles’ upcoming world tour, which some fans have deemed too high.
“I just want to say a big, big thank you to each and every single one of you for being here with me tonight,” Malik said in the video. “You could have been anywhere, but you decided to spend your night with me.”
Malik then went on to quip, “Hopefully, the ticket prices weren’t too high,” as the crowd cheered.
“Just saying,” Malik added, cracking a smile.
Styles, 31, faced criticism this week after presale tickets for his Together, Together tour went on sale, ranging from £44.10 (approximately $60) to £466.25 ($643) for standard seated tickets for dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, per BBC News.
One fan shared their frustration on X, writing, “I love love harry i reaaaally do but i fear he needs to get a reality check because there is no way he is aware of his main fan demographics considering ages and monthly wages and thinks they can afford tickets so expensive. boy do broke people not deserve to see u up close.”
Oasis singer Liam Gallagher even chimed in on the social media discourse writing, “HOW MUCH,” in a Monday, January 26, X post.
Fans on Reddit also expressed their disappointment over ticket prices ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars in the U.S.
“I saw $353.40 and I thought that was for both, but it was per ticket for the upper bowl,” shared a user on the r/HarryStyles forum. “I just cannot pay that kind of money. I also have to travel from out of state and find lodgings. It is too much.”
Styles announced his Together, Together world tour on January 22 ahead of the release of his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., which is set to drop on March 6.
Styles will perform 66 shows across seven cities around the world between May and December, including a 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The tour commences May 16 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam and will wrap December 13 at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Other host cities include London, São Paulo, Mexico City and Melbourne.
Malik and Styles have a long history together, dating back to their time on the U.K. reality television show The X Factor in 2010. Along with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and the late Liam Payne, they were grouped together to form the chart-topping boy band One Direction.
Malik left the group in March 2015 and the rest of the band members went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
Following Payne’s death aged 31 in October 2024, the surviving members of One Direction reunited for the singer’s funeral the following month.
“I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly,” Malik wrote in a statement at the time.
