Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma have been granted a divorce by a family court in Mumbai. Both Yuzvendra and Dhanashree were present at the Bandra Family Court. Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin Kumar Gupta, confirmed their divorce while speaking to reporters outside the court. “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife,” advocate Nitin said in a video by ANI. For the unversed, Chahal and Verma tied the knot in December 2020. According to their petition, they parted ways in June 2022. On February 5, they filed a joint petition before the family court seeking divorce by mutual consent.

The Bombay High Court had requested the family court on Wednesday to decide the divorce plea by Thursday as Chahal’s presence would have been tough due to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. The IPL T20 cricket tournament will begin from March 22. This is a big story in entertainment news.
The cricketer and Verma had filed a joint petition before the HC, and sought the cooling-off period to be waived as they decided to part ways by mutual consent.
Yuzvendra has complied with the divorce settlement terms, which also require him to pay Dhanashree Verma alimony worth Rs 4.75 crore. Initially, he had reportedly paid Rs 2.37 crore and the Bombay High Court noted that the second instalment would only be paid after the divorce decree was granted. According to reports, the family court had initially mentioned the non-payment of the full alimony amount as partial compliance with the divorce settlement terms and denied waiving off the cooling-off period.
