To Wu Chun’s teen daughter, he’s just her old man.
But viewers of Taiwanese dramas in the early 2000s remember him as the heartthrob of their dreams.
The Brunei-born singer-actor, who rose to fame through his dramas and former boy band Fahrenheit, is married to his childhood sweetheart Lin Liying and they have two children: daughter Neinei — also known as Shayna — who turns 16 next month, and son Max, who turns 13 also next month.
The family lived in Shanghai for over three years before relocating to Melbourne, Australia, six months ago.
During the filming of an episode of singer Jay Chou’s J-Style Trip in Melbourne in August, Wu Chun, a former student of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), was made to hold a sign that read “I am RMIT’s most handsome alumni. Let’s have a selfie,” on the streets as punishment.
Neinei recently had a photo shoot for a traditional Chinese clothing exhibition, where she was asked about the variety show scene.
“I don’t think he’s the most handsome. He’s an old man,” she said with a smile.
Netizens on social media were amused by her comment, with some reminiscing on how they crushed on Wu Chun, who turns 47 next month, in the past.
“You have no idea that your dad was every Taiwanese drama watcher’s dream man back in his prime,” one remarked.
Another wrote: “I was in love with your father at your age.”
Some “felt old” seeing Wu Chun’s daughter all grown up.
“His daughter is already 15 years old? Oh my, your dad was handsome as hell back then,” said another netizen.
Wu Chun, a member of Fahrenheit from late 2005 to 2011, is best known for dramas including 2006’s Tokyo Juliet and Hanazakarino Kimitachihe, and Romantic Princess (2007).
