Tina Dabi’s viral video was shot during the 77th Republic Day celebrations that were held at the Barmer District Collectorate on January 26. As evident from the video, Tina Dabi, the district collector, can be seen overseeing the flag hoisting ceremony. She unfurls the national flag, but what happens next leaves everyone a bit surprised. After unfurling the lag, Tina salutes but briefly faces the wrong direction. She is immediately instructed by security personnel to face the right direction. Following the instruction, she adjusts her position and finishes the formal salute.

Tina Dabi’s error may have lasted for a few seconds, but that didn’t stop the netizens from slamming her. Within minutes, social media was flooded with reactions from netizens Many were quick to take to social media to call it “protocol violation”. One comment on X read, “She was not able to correct her self she was guided even a 3rd std student know where to salute …. I think here hangover is not overP”. Another user posted, “may be it is a small issue. many times her behaviour is immature. this shows upsc selection process is flawed. she is 1st ranker, in upsc of that year.” Next comment read, “IAS cadre doesn’t change genetic defects. Same applies to her parents also. In spite being in IAS cadre, they didn’t give proper culture to daughter. Why they forfeited right of good candidate for IAS and pushed duch lousy girl into respected profession.”
However, many were quick to defend the officer, and referred to the incident as a minor error that could have happened under the pressure of an official public programme. In her reaction to the criticism, Tina Dabi stated the lapse was unintentional and happened because of brief confusion, ABP reported. She further mentioned that the error was corrected as soon as she was informed about it.
