Victoria and David Beckham may have made enemies after their son Brooklyn fired off his explosive broadside this week in which he simultaneously denounced his family and made clear his loyalty to his wife.
The 26-year-old accused David, 50, and Victoria, 51, of ‘controlling’ him in a bombshell six-page Instagram statement, accusing the A-list couple of making no attempt to hide their dislike for his spouse Nicola Peltz.
But the Beckhams no doubt have a sympathetic ear in another famous family – namely the Hadids, who know all too well what it is like to welcome actress Nicola into the fold.
For Nicola, whose parents are Palm Beach billionaires Nelson and Claudia Peltz, once dated Anwar Hadid, brother to models Gigi and Bella, and the son of real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and his reality TV star ex-wife Yolanda.
Much like with Brooklyn, who is six years her junior, Anwar was only 17 years old when he started dating a then 22-year-old Nicola in January 2017.
Now, a source close to the Hadid family has told the Daily Mail how Nicola, now 31, always ‘wanted to be the first priority’ in his life, something that allegedly bred animosity.

An insider has told the Daily Mail how the Hadid family feels about Nicola (pictured with Anwar in 2018)
The Hadid family, made up of Gigi, 30, Bella, 29, and Anwar, now 26, has been in the spotlight ever since their Dutch model mother Yolanda, 62, appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2012 when she was married to Canadian composer David Foster.
Yolanda is said to have reached out to David and Victoria last summer as their family feud started to escalate.
Before her romance with Anwar, Nicola briefly dated Justin Bieber and ironically went on to befriend Selena Gomez, the singer’s ex. In fact, Nicola and Brooklyn were so close with Gomez they even joked about being in a ‘throuple’, but fast forward a few years and their friendship appears to be over. Gomez did not attend Nicola and Brooklyn’s vow renewal in August last year, despite sharing a matching tattoo with Peltz.
Nicola’s short-lived fling with Bieber had nothing on her year-long relationship with Anwar.
The heiress and her teen model beau enjoyed many high-profile date nights across Los Angeles before calling it quits in 2018, after which Nicola unfollowed the entire Hadid family and moved on with her now-husband Brooklyn, whose eclectic resume includes model, barista, photographer and aspiring chef.
For his part, Anwar quickly moved on with one of his sisters’ close friends, fellow model and reality star, Kendall Jenner. He later dated pop star Dua Lipa.
Nicola, who was said to be ‘controlling and took advantage of Anwar,’ left a lasting impression on the Hadids who reportedly ‘still talk about her and how he’s better off without her.’
‘She monopolized his time and wanted to be the first priority,’ our insider said. ‘If she wasn’t, she would flip.’
For Brooklyn, his wife is far from controlling, a term he used to instead refer to his parents who he claimed this week have ‘consistently disrespected’ Nicola.

Brooklyn Beckham fired off an explosive attack on Monday in which he simultaneously denounced his family and made clear his loyalty to his wife (pictured in 2025)
He branded them ‘performative’ and accused them of spreading ‘countless lies’ and ‘trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding’ in April 2022 – something he insisted still ‘hasn’t stopped.’
It was at their nuptials, held at the Peltzs’ $95million Palm Beach mansion, that Brooklyn said his mother ‘humiliated’ him after she ‘hijacked’ his first dance and proceeded to dance on him ‘inappropriately’.
‘The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,’ he wrote. ‘I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.’
He continued: ‘I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.’
Anwar’s half-sister Alana, whose mother is Mohamed’s ex-wife Mary Butler, made clear her feelings about Nicola in the wake of Brooklyn’s explosive polemic on Monday.
Despite Brooklyn’s statement calling for privacy, Alana replied to a comment by photographer Eli Rezkallah which had read: ‘Ending an eight paragraph rant about his family’s dirty laundry with ‘all we want is privacy’ is all I need to know.’
Alana’s reply: ‘Right and that girl doesn’t want privacy she’s been trying to be famous for a decade’.
This appears to be far from the only bridge Nicola has burned on her quest for fame, with the list including everyone from fellow celebrities to her dog groomer, wedding planner and hair colorist who once branded her a ‘monster’ and ‘the worst of the worst’.
While Yolanda, 62, first approved of her son dating the heiress, it seems her tune changed over time, with an insider claiming Nicola took up ‘all his time’

Nicola, who grew up in in the New York City suburbs and lived a life of privilege, is said to have threatened Anwar’s relationship with his tight-knit family, with our insider claiming he once ‘stopped talking’ to them for a time.
‘She didn’t forbid him to talk to them, but she needed time, all his time,’ the insider said. ‘So, when was he going to talk to his family? There’s only so many hours in a day. He was a teenager. It was all about her. She left an impression.’
For the Beckhams, it may seem as though that behavior is familiar.
‘The pattern is always that Nicola is upset – and so Brooklyn can’t see his family,’ a source previously told the Daily Mail.
