Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez are reportedly “cordial” as they navigate how to handle their respective children’s friendships.
After Garner, Lopez and Affleck had an icy reunion at their kids’ play last month, sources told the Daily Mail Monday that the two actresses are handling their awkward relationship with “respect.”
“They aren’t best friends and they’re certainly not going to be going on any girls’ trips with each other,” an insider told the outlet. “But they respect each other and respect that their kids are friends and want the best for everyone involved.”
“They are cordial, but besides their kids, their small talk isn’t going to be about Ben or what they are working on,” the source continued. “They are both OK with how their relationship stands.”
The insider alleged that the two “don’t dislike each other” and that there is “no feud” — but their time spent together is limited.
“They never know what to do or not to do when they’re in situations together because they know that the second they interact they would be the focus, and they want the focus to be on the kids.”
“Their connection is from who they once were married to, not from any kind of friendship, so it is what it is.”
Reps for Garner and Lopez did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Their uncomfortable dynamic was put on display on Dec. 12 when Affleck and Garner’s child Seraphina and Lopez’s child Emme starred in a play together.
In photos obtained by Page Six, Affleck and his first ex-wife arrived to the Los Angeles playhouse together with their 13-year-old son, Samuel.
The singer arrived separately with her manager Benny Medina and her mother, Guadalupe.
Many parents gathered outside the playhouse chatting before the show, but Lopez did not appear to interact with Affleck or Garner — despite being in eyeshot of each other.
Samuel took the time to talk to the “On The Floor” hitmaker separately from his parents, though. The duo — who are known to have a close bond — were pictured smiling and laughing as they spoke.
Affleck and Garner, both 53, wed in 2005 and called it quits in 2015. They have maintained a close co-parenting relationship ever since.
Following Affleck’s divorce, he reconnected with Lopez, 56, in 2021. The two were previously engaged in 2002.
They wed in July 2022 and successfully blended their families. Lopez shares 17-year-old twins, Emme and Max, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck and Garner share Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel.
However, the “Hustlers” actress filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024.
In March, an insider exclusively told Page Six that the dancer was “furious” over cozy photos of Affleck and Garner that had surfaced at the time.
That same month, another source told us that Affleck “would love another chance” with Garner, although she is in a relationship with John Miller.
Lopez and Affleck most recently reunited one week after their kids’ play to take Samuel shopping, but the Grammy nominee and the “Juno” actress have not been pictured together since.
